About the Role Reporting to Superintendent Rehabilitation and Biodiversity, this role provides effective and efficient environmental support to the Iron Ore business by delivering comprehensive biodiversity assessments to enable growth through supporting environmental approvals. Ad hoc site travel will be required, and flexible work options will be considered.
Key responsibilities will include:
Coordinating all aspects of biological surveys including scoping, mobilisation of contractors to site, field work, and technical report and database reviews. Providing technical biodiversity advice to internal stakeholders (Approvals, Site HSE, Projects, Water Planning and Planning and Technical teams). Biological data verification and management. Supervising contractors undertaking biological surveys Assisting with undertaking research and development and governance projects. Supporting other environmental activities and initiatives as directed by the business About You To be successful in this role, you have the following skills and attributes:
Degree qualification in a relevant field Technical knowledge in biodiversity management An understanding of relevant WA Environmental Protection Authority technical and environmental factor guidelines relating to Environmental Impact Assessment An understanding of WA state and federal environmental approvals processes Experience in biological survey techniques and field sampling. IT literacy, including MS office, Arc GIS, MS Access (preferred) Sound knowledge of Pilbara fauna and flora (preferred) Location You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - 'City Square'. You will have stunning river views from your modern open plan office, state of the art facilities including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing facilities, 550 bicycle racks with ample lockers, showers and change room amenities and a large outdoor terrace with barbecues. Surveys are delivered in the Pilbara Region of WA requiring travel on an ad hoc and needs basis for long day trips or overnight.
