About the Opportunity The primary purpose of Special Counsel is the provision of high-quality legal, policy, and strategic advice to the Chief Executive of the Attorney-General's Department (AGD) and the Attorney-General. Special Counsel is responsible for delivering high-quality legal advice and support, including on legal policy, assisting in the development and implementation of initiatives of the Chief Executive and the Attorney-General.
Special Counsel must exercise a level of autonomy in a constantly changing environment with multiple and often conflicting priorities. Responsible for the conduct of sensitive and highly confidential matters, Special Counsel must exercise a high level of discretion and judgment in order to deliver quality advice in a timely manner.
About the Business The Attorney-General's Department (AGD) promotes justice by protecting the rights of all South Australians, holding people to account according to the law, improving safety, and contributing to an efficient and fair justice system.
Special Conditions for Employment Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
Minimum Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification in law.
Currently admitted as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia.
