About the roleThe Spatial System Specialist designs, develops, and maintains geospatial tools to support V/Line's Asset Management.
This role enhances spatial data collection, management, and analysis, driving data-driven decisions.
Aligned with the Asset Information Strategy, the specialist creates solutions that integrate various data types into user-friendly formats, ensuring accurate and accessible data for stakeholders.
The role involves developing key geospatial applications and workflows, with ongoing support and enhancement, establishing a strong foundation within the Asset Management team.
Key accountabilities include:·Defining and implementing strategies for collecting and maintaining spatial data, developing and deploying custom geospatial applications, and designing automated workflows for seamless data integration.
·Managing the ArcGIS Enterprise platform, providing ongoing system support, and ensuring data accuracy through quality assurance protocols.
·Training users, customising applications, implementing security measures, and maintaining documentation.
·Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to align geospatial solutions with organisational goals.·Lead the adoption of new technologies, share best practices, conduct research to identify future trends, and engage stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and use of geospatial solutions.
About youWe are looking for a creative problem-solver with a strong background in GIS to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the rail, utilities, or council sectors.
Ideal Candidate Should Possess:·GIS Expertise: Proficiency with ArcGIS (Pro, Online, Enterprise) and deep understanding of GIS principles.·Technical Skills: Experience in developing geospatial applications using Python, JavaScript, SQL, and relevant frameworks.·Data Management: Competence in managing, analysing, and maintaining spatial data, including knowledge of spatial databases and data quality assurance.·System Integration: Knowledge of integrating GIS with other business systems like ERP (e.g., Oracle JD Edwards).·Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues creatively.·Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to work collaboratively and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.·Continuous Learning: Driven to stay current with the latest GIS technologies and best practices.·A valid driver's license ·Values: Demonstrated alignment to V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.

The remuneration range for this position starts at $103,200 inclusive of superannuation and upwards based on the candidate's overall suitability and experience.
