In the role of Spatial Science Officer, you will provide the technical operation of Geographic Information Systems and Technology (GIS&T) systems; provide quality advice on GIS&T, datasets, analytical tools, modelling and mapping; deliver GIS&T products and services to regional and external clients and support the development of GIS&T applications; provide solutions to spatial science problems that satisfy client's needs.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Acquire, process, interpret, present, maintain and validate geospatial information and databases.
• Assemble, analyse, interpret, and report on spatial data from appropriate systems, providing information through high quality mapping products or reports as required by the client.
• Operate departmental Geographic Information System (GIS) software and support departmental users of GIS technology.
• Provide specialist mapping and GIS services.
• Assist with survey or spatial related activities when required.
• Deliver geospatial projects, products, and services (group training) to meet departmental requirements.
• Develop a sound knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
• Represent the region, as required, at meetings and forums dealing with spatial science related matters.
