Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) is the major health provider in the Central Hume region with an extensive range of acute, sub-acute, aged care, and community services.
The Medical Imaging Department provides a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound services (excluding echocardiography). This is a full-time, temporary position, with 80 hours per fortnight.
The primary role of the Sonographer is to provide professional and efficient imaging services to patients and clients of NHW and the wider community. This is at a grade 3 or 4 level under the Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Health) Enterprise Agreement. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and expertise in specific areas of ultrasound and an ability to perform various imaging examinations per the Medical Imaging Department protocols.
It will be essential for the successful candidate to establish collaborative working relationships with radiologists, medical and nursing staff, and administration staff in the Medical Imaging Department at Northeast Health Wangaratta.
Responsibilities: Make accurate diagnostic decisions Participate in open and informed discussions with radiologists and other sonographers Ensure an efficient workflow The Sonographer plays an important role within the Medical Imaging team, encompassing teaching and research. This entails regular in-services and sharing of information, knowledge, and skills with colleagues and other staff. This extends to formal teaching sessions and supervision of students on placement. This position also includes the opportunity to attend smaller, outlying hospitals to provide services at those sites.
