Position Summary
Working with the Bentley Group - The Sommelier is a passionate individual, specialising in wine service. The individual advises and guides the guests in their choice of wines, and food and wine pairing to enhance the dining experience. The Sommelier provides and manages a comprehensive wine and beverage list, sourcing products in line with our brand commitments and budget, providing internal and external training for colleagues.
The Role
Be an exemplary role model in inspiring team members through strong demonstration of the Capella Culture and Service Philosophy.
Provides wine suggestions and food-wine pairing to enhance guests' dining experience.
Be the champion in offering wine knowledge to both guests and colleagues.
Coordinate tasks and work with other departments to ensure that the department runs efficiently.
Enforces and proposes creation to improve the services and ensures the good maintenance of stock in the department.
Responsible for the service of wines, mineral water and brandies beverages in the respect of the standards and expectations of the guests.
Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas.
Handling guest feedback and resolving service 'Glitches', keeping a record of all feedback under the appropriate system. Ensures that the issues are resolved in a timely manner to guests' satisfaction.
Recognizes the importance of Forbes standards as to deliver excellent audit and service performance.
Responsible for assisting in maintaining inventory supplies of wine, ensuring that all supplies are correctly stored at the right temperature, and preventing wastage due to pilferage and poor inventory management.
Working with the F&B Managers and conducting a monthly stock take.
Assists the Chief Culturist to create rituals and moments for our guests in the Living Room.
Assists in shift coverage where required to ensure smooth operation and success.
Talent Profile
Diploma/ Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, specialising in beverage service/restaurant management is of advantage.
Advanced Sommelier certification (e.g., WSET Advanced, Court of Master Sommeliers) is preferred.
Experiences in a similar role at luxury hotels/resort or renowned venues.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a high level of professionalism.
Responsible Service of Alcohol.
