Given our work revolves around information and statistics and the presentation of statistics to promote better health and wellbeing, our projects have a significant dependency on data and ICT.Your main responsibility will be to provide the necessary leadership, analysis, and designs related to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards.When there are gaps in the current state, you will be able to:Create solutions that take practical considerations into account to get to the future state.Create definitions for Minimum-Viable-Products to demonstrate value to senior-level executives.Scope of ActivitiesInterpret Business NeedsTranslates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work.Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding enterprise solution designs and change requirements to drive the organisation's targeted business outcomes.Assess TechnologyAnalyses the business-IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and proposes stage-wise solutions for improvement.Consults with various IT functions such as Operations, Security, and Development, and identifies when it is necessary to modify designs to accommodate the solutions architecture.Apply TechnologyLeads evaluation, design, and analysis for the implementation of a solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities, value-streams, business requirements, and enterprise standards.Provides consulting support to application architects within agile teams to ensure the project or product is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.Designs and directs the governance activities associated with ensuring solutions architecture assurance and compliance.SkillsData savvy with knowledge of various aspects of technology architecture.Network Infrastructure: Knowledge of OSI model and the communication protocols that operate at each layer of the stack.Security: Understanding encryption, in transit, and at rest and testing for vulnerabilities in a systems design.Cloud/Hybrid/On-Premises Infrastructure: Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms with knowledge of compute, storage, identity & access management, governance, and networking services.Database Administration or Design: Knowledge of SQL and data vault/data warehouse/data lake solutions.Software Design & Development: Ability to formulate a high-level solution from a set of business requirements, architectural drivers, and design constraints while presenting trade-offs between scaling, load, availability, and fault tolerance.Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as spiral, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevOps).Understanding and knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) and information technology infrastructure library (ITIL).Understanding of IT standards and controls.Proven analytical, planning, organizational, and technical skills.Using an appropriate level of abstraction based on the audience, ability to communicate with senior-level technical and non-technical executives about pros and cons of alternative solution design proposals, both in written and verbal forms.Skilled at providing fit-for-purpose reporting based on organisational requirements.Skilled at negotiating with stakeholders from different IT functions and proposing solution designs that are practical in the short term with a clear plan to achieve future-state business capabilities.Apt at quickly comprehending the functions and capabilities of new technologies.CharacteristicsDisplays intellectual curiosity and tenacity to pursue practical solutions with a collaborative style in a team environment.Trusted and respected as a leader who can see technology from perspectives of different IT Functions to reach outcomes.Technology neutral: remains unbiased toward any specific technology or vendor choice and is more interested in results than personal preferences.Motivated and driven by achieving long-term business outcomes.
