Solicitor, Legislation Ongoing roleUsual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)The Role The Solicitor role sits within the Legislation Team in the Public and Administrative Law Unit. The successful applicant will undertake a wide variety of work, with primary responsibility for advising on and developing legislation, regulations, and instruments. The Solicitor will also undertake research and analysis of legal, legislative, and policy issues, and assist in the preparation of reports, briefs, and correspondence on those issues.
The Team The position of the Solicitor, Legislation forms a part of the Legal and Legislation Branch and sits within the Corporate Services Group. The Corporate Services Group actively supports Ministers and the Department's portfolio groups to create the conditions for sustainable economic development and employment growth.
About You The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
Experience as a government lawyer or in corporate or private practice.Knowledge and understanding of legislative processes, including Cabinet, Executive Council, and Parliamentary processes and requirements.Knowledge of and experience in the principles and practice of public and administrative law with strong statutory interpretation skills to support legal advice.How to Apply Please click the 'Apply Now' button.
