Experience it here.About the programAIR6500 is the RAAF's $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked 'system of systems' that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.About the opportunityAs the Software Engineering Manager you will primarily lead the team that is planning, defining and estimating the next phase of AIR6500. This tranche will deliver improvements to the core Joint Air Battle Management System (JABMS), and provide new capabilities that leverage both sovereign and US technology.Additional responsibilities will include:Lead the definition of Software scope for next phase of AIR6500Liaise with existing AIR6500 Phase 1 (AIR6500 -1) software engineering teams to understand current statusDefine software product architecture concepts, integrating with the established Joint Air Battle Management System (JABMS) architectureEvolve system behaviour models to capture software subsystem functionalityDefine subcontractors scope, including product specifications and scope of workEstimate software Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) to be performed by software engineering teamsAbout youTo be successful in the role you will have a passion for creating solutions to complex problems from the ground up, for being agile in a bid teaming environment and for being accountable for estimates, decisions and deliverables.
