See our range of benefits and policies directly at Work180: Aesop - Work180 Endorsed Employer.Role PurposeAesop are seeking a thoughtful and driven Software Engineer - Frontend in a 12-month role operating with a hybrid working pattern, based at our global head office in Collingwood.Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Frontend, you will help build and maintain Aesop Web Applications to the highest standards. You will be responsible for the development of code to execute against the engineering strategy and deliver a new version of Aesop.com.You will also provide project specialisation skills to the project team to help determine the best way for a project to be implemented.Some things you may find yourself doingEnsure, through the development and use of coding standards that deployed code meets Aesop engineering practice standards for technical delivery and maintainability.Work with the team to assess new and better development techniques to improve quality and speed to market.Contribute to the performance of the frontend of all applications built and managed by the Digital Team ensuring speed and reliability are consistently being improved.Work with the Digital, Creative and Marketing teams (or other teams as needed) to help guide and develop a solution to briefs for business activities.Collaborate with Engineering team members to document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear codeImplement prototypes against briefs to help shape UX / UI and implementation considerationsWork with Aesop vendors who are providing development services to ensure consistency of approach so the Aesop Engineering team can absorb projects back into the team.Work with other parts of the stack to be able to work more deeply into the Aesop.com properties than simply the frontend.Be a subject expert on frontend development, frontend practices and good UX implementation practices back to the business.Provide insight into new opportunities afforded to the frontend stack as new practices emerge.Support the research of new development practices and technologies to help guide the Creative Technology StrategyWhat we are looking forStrong experience using frontend technologies actively (HTML, CSS, JS, Typescript)Ability to work with JS without a frameworkDemonstrable understanding of the Agile methodologySome commercial experience using ReactJSDemonstrable understanding of React application development.Working understanding of NodeJSGood problem-solving capacity with an outcome focus.Working knowledge of Google Analytics and Google Tag ManagerDemonstrable experience of being able to estimate effort for task completion.Consistent experience working in a cross-functional team beyond developmentArticulate, composed and excellent communication skillsAble to coordinate with team members who are less technically proficient.Expected to be able to work autonomously.What's on Offer:At Aesop, we believe that the best people drive our business to continued success and so we take a holistic approach to employment, promoting employee wellbeing initiatives and encouraging deep connections with the local community through the Aesop Foundation, volunteering, matched giving programs.
