Southern NSWLHD comprises of 2 Networks - Inlands centred around Goulburn, Monaro, Queanbeyan and Cooma, AND Coastal centered around Bega, Batemans Bay and Moruya in the far south-east corner of NSW.
Where you'll be working The position will be primarily located at Goulburn Hospital but may be varied as agreed with the Network Director of Medical Services, Head of Department and District Medical Lead (Paediatrics) and as approved via Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC) to other facilities in Southern NSW.
The Staff Specialist or VMO will also be expected to work in outpatient clinics and provision of education and training in the SNSWLHD Inland Network.
This position also involves participation in a 24/7 on-call roster to Goulburn Hospital with Telehealth consultation services to hospitals in the Inland Network.
The Scope Of Practice and Clinical Privileges are defined in the Scope of Clinical Practice for General Paediatrics Southern NSW LHD attached to this document.
What you'll be doing The GP Paediatrician will provide expert paediatric medical assessment and management of patients within the Department of Paediatrics.
The role also includes a key clinical role in teaching, supervision and support of junior medical staff.
Selection Criteria: Recognised specialist qualifications, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or other equivalent specialist recognition such as Fellow of Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Fellow of Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) with advanced skills training (AST) in Paediatrics.
Suitable applicants who are expected to be awarded their Fellowship within six months will be considered (if successful, the applicant will not be eligible to commence their appointment until the relevant specialist recognition is complete).Demonstrated recent clinical experience and competence in general paediatric medicine including acute care, neonatal care and outpatient general paediatrics (including learning, development and behavioural medicine).Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, build collaborative partnerships and provide leadership of a team.Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of medical, nursing and allied health professionals and to continuing self-education, research and quality improvement.
Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated commitment to patient safety.Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.Current licence to drive in NSW.Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases This is a Category 'A' position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015.
