About The Role
As a Smart Meter Support Engineer, you will support the business by visiting various properties throughout the day and undertake work on Smart Meters on a non-technical basis in both domestic and commercial buildings. The Smart Support Engineer will use a hand-held device to carry out works. Once completed, all details of the visits must be recorded on the tablet, which will allow records of new and existing customers to be updated. There is no live electric work, so no previous technical qualifications are required.
An example of some of the activities you will be required to complete includes re-communication processes on Gas and Electric Smart Meters - changing SIM cards, modems, and small gain aerials, re-joining smart devices to the network while in contact with energy companies, exchanging batteries on gas token meters, installation of high gain aerials on the externals of the property using ladders, completion of site surveys, and other supporting work that requires a field-based engineer to visit properties.
You need to be located within IP/NR postcodes.
You will be contracted to work 40 hours over Monday-Friday, consisting of shifts between 08:00-20:00.
Due to the nature of the work we carry out, successful applicants must pass a Colour sight deficiency test and hold a full UK driving license (no more than 6 points).
