Site Manager, Qld Operations

You will be joining a network of Divisional Materials Manager and Divisional Materials Manager Logistics across the country, responsible for managing your work unit to ensure the successful delivery of our federal elections and referendums. You will work closely with our State Office, National Office and the other States and Territories.
These roles are based in an Out-posted Centre, a warehouse used to manage electoral activities for multiple divisions during the electoral event delivery period. The Out-posted Centre is responsible for the receipt, preparation, processing and storage of election materials, as well as being the centralised location for the counting of ballot papers.
Whilst working at the AEC, you will develop strong connections with a wide variety of operational colleagues within a supportive network. Your work will contribute to the delivery of an impartial and independent electoral event with a high level of integrity.
The key duties of the position include: In this role you will be assisting with the management of activities within an Out-posted Centre site as part of its management team. In preparation for an electoral event, you will be required to assist with the establishment of an Out-posted Centre. During the event delivery period, as the Site Manager, you will be required to manage operational activities such as Work Health and Safety responsibilities, the receipt and dispatch of furniture, materials, IT equipment and ballot papers. Following an electoral event, you will be required to support activities related to the decommissioning of an Out-posted Centre site.
The Site Manager reports directly to the Divisional Returning Officer or Out-posted Centre Project Manager. You will be required to work collaboratively with them and the broader site management team to achieve operational efficiencies and deliver outcomes across all aspects of the Out-posted Centre.
In this role, you may be required to supervise and coordinate work for temporary polling staff to achieve key electoral event deliverables against strict timelines.
These roles are offered on a casual basis, working up to 477 hours throughout the engagement period. There will also be periods where the work roster will include weekend work and/or periods of overtime hours. The role involves periods of extended daily hours and continuous days of duty.

Project Delivery and Operations: Proven ability to contribute to project delivery and logistics in a fast-paced environment, working effectively under pressure and extended hours.Teamwork and Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and negotiate to achieve desired outcomes.Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Proven ability to identify and address emerging issues, make sound decisions aligned with AEC policies, and escalate relevant matters as needed.Organisation and Efficiency: Highly organised with the ability to independently complete tasks and contribute to process improvements within scope of policy and legislation requirements. Responsible for organising and managing the OPC, including ensuring all staff are signed in and out of the OPC and site briefings.Safety and Compliance: General knowledge of WHS principles and a commitment to providing a safe workplace, adhering to legislative and policy requirements.Communication and Adaptability: Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, represent the AEC, and engage with diverse individuals and communities, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.Other Essential Requirements:Have and willing to use their own mobile phone.Your own access to a registered and comprehensively insured Private Motor Vehicle suitable for transporting polling equipment if required.Full unrestricted and current (motor vehicle) driver's licence.Other Desirable Requirements:Current First Aid Certificate.Experience or qualifications as a fire/emergency warden.Qualifications or training in Work Health Safety procedures.Qualifications or training in Security Operations.Eligibility:AEC employees must be Australian citizens.Any person who is, and seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered.Applicants are required to consent to, undergo, obtain and maintain a character clearance.Applicants are required to consent to, undergo, obtain and maintain the security clearance required for this role.Getting to know the Australian Electoral Commission: The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is at the heart of Australian democracy.
