The opportunity: As a Simulation Author , you will play a crucial role in enhancing the Queensland Power system's digital presence and operational efficiency.
You will develop, validate, and maintain simulation models that support real-time operational staff and ensure the safe exercise of critical processes in a simulated control room environment.
Develop and maintain detailed simulation models and exercises for the Queensland power system Utilise real-time simulation and modelling tools, including Energy Management Systems, to deliver training and resilience activities Collaborate with operational and engineering teams to gather requirements and validate simulation results Interpret and communicate simulation results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Ensure models are accurate, reliable, and compliant with industry standards Identify potential issues through simulations and provide recommendations for improvement What you'll bring: Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering or lesser qualification with relevant equivalent experience We are seeking a candidate with excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical abilities which are essential for interpreting simulation results, identifying trends, and troubleshooting technical issues.
A solid understanding of electrical systems, power generation, and distribution principles is necessary, along with effective problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and optimise energy system performance through simulation-based insights.
Proficiency in simulation software such as MATLAB, Simulink, PSS/E, PSCAD, HOMER, etc., and experience in modelling energy systems, including renewable energy integration, grid infrastructure, and energy storage, are highly desirable.
