Health, Safety & Environment (Construction)Government - State (Government & Defence)Key Responsibilities:Provide specialist advice to regional staff on environmental/sustainability management and compliance issues in the development of Road Investment Strategies, road link studies, the planning and design of road improvement projects and the construction and maintenance phases of Regional operations.Provide input and advice on regional and state-wide environmental issues.Establish and maintain liaison and consultation with other Environmental Officers to ensure environmental management consistency among regions where appropriate.Promote, foster and maintain effective relationships with other agencies and organisations concerned with the management of environmental and cultural heritage issues in the state-controlled road reserve.Lead in-house environmental assessments for environment studies and impact assessment studies, and development applications to meet Departmental and legislative requirements.Participate and represent the Region and the Department on various external working committees.Project manage and conduct research and development projects on transport related environmental issues as required.Manage and lead the preparation of REF's and EMP's in the Region by internal and external resources.Lead the development and implementation of policies, methodologies, standards and specifications across Regional functional units to maximise environmental management activities and outcomes.Develop and deliver environmental training for Regional staff and associated stakeholders.Mentor and coach staff on Environmental issues.Lead audits of environmental compliance, and preparation of environmental compliance reports on Main Roads road construction and maintenance contracts.Develop responses to Ministerial and public enquiries in relation to transport related environmental issues and to other Government Departments on their environmental initiatives.Assist in supervision of road construction and maintenance contracts in relation to environment management and compliance.Assist the ISCA ratings assessments, compliance checks and reporting for North Coast Region Projects.Mandatory Qualifications and Conditions:Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.Degree qualification from a tertiary institute in environmental science, natural resource management, environmental engineering or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institute is mandatory for this position.Requirements of the Role:Desirable: A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence.Desirable: Experience with MapInfo.Desirable: Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (ISAP).Benefits of Working at TMR:We have visible impact in communities and contribute to making Queensland a better place to live.We provide flexible working options that encourage a healthy work-life balance.We invest in individual career pathways and development plans.We offer competitive superannuation and salary sacrificing options.We provide access to confidential free counselling for you and your family through our employee assistance program.We are proud to celebrate and empower the unique perspectives of our community via our employee networks, including our Indigenous Employee, Pride, Values and Culture and Accessibility and Inclusion Advocacy Networks.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference: QLD/603732/24Closing Date: Tuesday, 26 November 2024
