About the Opportunity The Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Manager will provide strategic leadership and operational support to the Food and Liquor business units across New South Wales, ACT and some New Zealand sites.
In this role, you will proactively drive the implementation of Metcash's SHE Strategy, ensuring the alignment of practices with legislative requirements. The role requires a strong commitment to driving a safety-first culture and supporting Metcash's long-term SHE objectives.
In this Role Provide SHE & Injury Management Support: Advise senior management and business pillars on SHE programs, policies, processes, and injury management strategies.Implement Metcash SHE Strategy: Support the development and local coordination of the Metcash SHE Strategy, focusing on safety, health, wellbeing, and environmental initiatives.Drive Safety Culture: Ensure the effective implementation of SHE processes at the site level, promoting 'Safety as a Core Value' within the organization.Workers Compensation & Injury Management: Collaborate with the National Injury Management Advisor to manage workers' compensation claims, upskill return-to-work coordinators, and oversee the rehabilitation process for injured employees.Manage SHE Risks & Build Capability: Proactively manage safety, health, and environmental risks, coach others on risk management, and deliver necessary training based on annual needs analysis.Promote Safety Leadership & Accountability: Encourage leadership to implement key performance indicators for Safety Observation Tours, reinforcing safe behavior and contributing to a safety-focused culture.Incident Reporting & Hazard Management: Foster hazard identification, near-miss reporting, and incident investigations, ensuring a consistent and thorough approach to reduce injuries and improve safety outcomes.Reporting, Audits & Stakeholder Engagement: Provide accurate reporting to stakeholders, liaise with regulators on incident notifications, and conduct audits to ensure compliance with SHE management systems, driving continuous improvement.You're Likely a Match If Minimum 5 years' leadership experience in operational safety, health and environmental roles, preferably in FMCG, warehousing, distribution and supply chain.Tertiary qualifications in SHE or a related discipline.Certification in ICAM Lead Investigator and SHE Lead Auditor.Proven ability to work effectively with line management to build capability and safety leadership.Solutions provider, innovator thinker.Proven capability in Injury/Claims Management (Return to Work Coordinator Certification is highly regarded).Life at Metcash Experience a supportive and flexible work environment.
