As the Principal Environment Advisor at Senex, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating exploration and production activities by ensuring that systems and tools are in place to ensure compliance with relevant Commonwealth and State legislative frameworks.
You will also bring significant knowledge and experience in delivery of environmental approvals at a Commonwealth and State level.
Reporting to the Environment Manager, this role will see you champion continued development of the Senex Health, Safety, Environment Management System (HSEMS), shape internal processes, and ensure the business is provided with fit-for-purpose compliance management plans and procedures.
You may also pivot to management and delivery of primary environmental approvals (EPBC and EA) on an as needs basis subject to internal business factors.
Key accountabilities will include:
Ensuring all regulatory environmental compliance obligations are systematically managed and assigned via the ECMS to demonstrate ongoing compliance.
Overseeing and influencing internal business processes related to implementing external and internal compliance obligations, ensuring their robustness, fitness for purpose, and cost-effectiveness.
Maintaining schedules and participating in field-based environmental assurance inspections to provide transparency to the business and manage communication with key stakeholders.
Ensuring all compliance management plans are regularly reviewed and updated in accordance with compliance obligations.
Maintaining schedules for environmental assessments to provide transparency to the business and manage timelines for delivery.
Delivering environmental constraints analysis, including desktop and on-site surveys to enable implementation of project development plans in compliance with the Senex environmental constraints protocol.
Providing generalist environmental advice to the business regarding implementation of compliance obligations and associated record keeping.
Managing delivery of primary environmental approvals scopes including sub-contractor and consultant project management against strategic business drivers.
About You
This position will best suit a team player, who is also willing to roll up their sleeves to get things done.
It goes without saying that you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and interact with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external to the business.
In addition, you will have:
Relevant tertiary qualifications within environmental science / management.
Significant experience in the application of environmental legislation including familiarity with ISO14001 and development and implementation of environmental management systems.
Demonstrated experience in systematically managing significant volumes of environmental compliance obligations.
Strong background and understanding of state and federal approvals relevant to petroleum and gas.
Excellent level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities is essential.
A generalist environmental skillset able to be turned to the delivery of primary environmental approvals when required.
The ability to work independently and organize multiple activities while delivering timely results to operations and project managers.
