Your Role: As the Settlement Engagement Worker at North Coast Settlement Service, you will support and facilitate activities and services that promote exceptional impact, service and engagement that contribute to the broader outcomes of people from refugee and humanitarian entrant backgrounds.
Your Responsibility: * Provide and model excellent customer service for general enquiries, membership or volunteering enquiries, donor enquires, and requests for support or assistance including intake assessment and external referral.
* Collate relevant statistical data and submit according to Data Exchange procedures.
* Actively participate in and contribute to community development events and activities such as Harmony Day, Refugee Week, etc., and encourage client participation & engagement.
* Contribute to key partnerships that align to the targeted service outcomes for people we assist.
* Ensure rigorous data capture and reporting that contribute to continuous improvement.
You Will Need: * Relevant qualifications and / or demonstrated experience in community services and / or lived refugee experience.
* You will need to be able to speak, read, and write in English.
Speaking Kurdish Kurmanji would be a bonus.
* Our largest group of clients in this area are Yazidi.
Ideally you have demonstrated experience and knowledge of the Yazidi culture.
* Demonstrated experience working with people experiencing disadvantage due to the impact of trauma, homelessness, mental health issues, alcohol and other drug issues, and / or unemployment.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, including cultural sensitivity and cross-culture communication.
* Ability to assess the needs and respond to the enquiries of the people who use the service.
