SES Band 2 Executive Director, Corporate, Governance and Communications - Canberra About the role As the Executive Director, Corporate, Governance and Communications (EDCGC) you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic priorities of the ACIC, working to support its critical mission of protecting Australia from serious and organised crime.
You will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and be responsible for ensuring that the ACIC operates effectively and efficiently in a dynamic and high-stakes environment.
Your leadership will drive improvements across multiple areas, including the daily corporate operations of the agency, leading the delivery of the agency's various business operations and its budget in accordance with ACIC strategic plan to ensure that the agency delivers high level outcomes to its partners and the Commonwealth government.
The role of the EDCGC is to provide substantial business acumen, vision and direction that will develop and sustain comprehensive short, medium and long-term goals for agency performance and growth, including drive organisational, business and cultural change through the executive in support of a high performing intelligence agency operating in a complex and challenging threat environment.
In this role, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership team, contributing to the development of long-term strategies and policies to ensure the ACIC's sustainability and capability to deliver its operational objectives.
You will engage with a diverse range of stakeholders including government departments, law enforcement partners and other external organisations, ensuring that ACIC remains a trusted partner in safeguarding Australia's national security.
Core capabilities To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Leadership to the Division and more broadly across the ACIC.
The EDCGC is directly accountable for, but not limited to the following functions: Governance and Communications, Finance, Property and Procurement, People and Culture.
Extensive expertise in public sector management, with demonstrated experience leading a range of corporate functions including governance, communications, strategic planning, HR finance, technology and change management.
A high degree of business acumen, the ability to drive business development, and a proven track record of championing successful whole-of-agency change management activities, including through leading multi-disciplinary teams.
Exceptional leadership and people management capabilities, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and accountability, while driving operational performance and reform.
The ability to anticipate emerging challenges and opportunities, driving the ACIC's corporate and operational performance towards future-focused outcomes.
Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively represent the ACIC in diverse forums and building stakeholder relationships.
Exceptional customer service to understand the perspectives of stakeholders and deliver high-quality services that enable and enhance the performance of the agency.
A track record of navigating complex, high-priority projects and making sound, data-informed decisions.
The ability to lead through uncertainty and complexity, with the ability to provide honest, evidence-based advice and make challenging decisions that benefit the agency and the broader national interest.
