The Role
The Statewide Groundwater Team plays a key role in dispensing specialised knowledge and assistance regarding groundwater concerns to colleagues within Queensland. Their duties span engaging in reviews of environmental impacts for substantial initiatives, contributing insights during the creation and evaluation of Water Plans, and delivering consultative guidance on sophisticated questions surrounding groundwater permits and the analysis of borehole data. This team forms the backbone of internal support for groundwater-related matters across the state.
Key Duties and Accountabilities:
• Assist with consultation with internal and external clients, to determine the specifics of their requests to allow the provision of detailed technical responses.
• Assist with preparation of technical advice papers, briefing notes and correspondence as required.
• Liaise with technical experts from various disciplines to inform development of advice on Groundwater management solutions and policy.
• Undertake desktop research, data collection, interpretation, and analysis to inform the assessment of a range of Groundwater management and policy issues.
• Contribute to analysis and interpretation of data to provide high level technical input to projects from Water Planning; Compliance and Monitoring; Major Projects (MP); Department of Environment, Science and Innovation (DESI); Department of Resources (DoR), and other groups as requested.
• Contribute to a positive team culture by sharing information, mentoring and supporting team members.
• Other duties as directed and required.
About You:
* You will have a degree qualification in either Hydrogeology, Groundwater modelling, Geology, Hydrology, Engineering, Geoscience, Science or Applied Science.
* You will build enduring relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* You will have the ability to influence with exceptional communication skills.
* You may travel away from your base centre when required.
