An exciting and rewarding opportunity! Regulatory Compliance & Enforcement are inviting applications for multiple Transport Inspector positions, where your primary role is to ensure the safety of all light vehicle road users. This requires educating the public and industry about relevant legislation and, when necessary, taking appropriate enforcement action. The role will combine not only educating the public but also providing good customer service and leadership in conducting your day-to-day activities.
TMR's Land Transport Safety and Regulation (LTSR) Branch sits within the Customer Services, Safety and Regulation (CSSR) Division. CSSR's purpose is to provide excellence in the development and delivery of customer, safety and regulatory services for all Queenslanders and our transport system.
Please Note: This recruitment process might be used to recruit future and multiple Senior Transport Inspector positions across Queensland.
As a Senior Transport Inspector, you will lead a team of Transport Inspectors to ensure the safety of all light vehicle road users. Some of your responsibilities will include:
Managing and supervising staff including recruitment and selection, performance management, training and developing staff, ethical behaviour and decision-making.Provide expert advice, training and education to stakeholders including members of the public, transport industry, other government and law enforcement agencies in relation to legislation, procedures and standards to encourage and ensure road use compliance and road safety.Develop and manage a program of operational activities that supports improvements to road safety and provide input into the development of compliance strategies in relation to the provision of achievable compliance outcomes.Manage and take responsibility for operations, rosters and budgets to ensure the achievement of delivery unit outcomes to agreed performance standards and targets in a cost-effective and timely manner.Lead, plan and manage significant and complex and extensive vehicle inspection programs, audits and investigations.Plan and conduct certain audits of individuals and organisations conducting activities on behalf of the department and recommend education, further investigation, or enforcement action.Other responsibilities as mentioned in the attached Role Description.Requirements of the role: Demonstrated or the ability to develop skills, experience and knowledge in policy, legislation, standards and procedures, preferably in the transport industry, resulting in their appropriate interpretation and implementation.A proven ability to interpret and analyse the meaning of information gathered from a variety of sources to support informed decision making on strategic policy and legislative issues, and an ability to provide advice that is rigorously considered and supported by a clear rationale.Demonstrated high-level skill and experience in exercising sound governance, by maintaining a high standard of practice through governance and risk management.Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to lead, build and maintain effective relationships with both team members and stakeholders.For more and detailed information on the requirements of the role, mandatory & desirable qualifications and conditions, and how to apply for this exciting opportunity, please read the Role Description with the Applicant Guide.
