Senior Training and Assessment Officer – Ongoing VPS5 role available Great career opportunity to be a part of Marine Search & Rescue (MSAR) VPS5 salary of $106,534 to $128,897 plus superannuation What does the business unit do? Emergency Management, within the Department of Justice and Community Safety works closely with government and agencies across the emergency management portfolio. The group is led by the Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management. Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities and statutory entities and offices.
Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).
The purpose of the Operations Branch is to lead the emergency operational coordination and state operations in Victoria by working with communities, government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies.
What will the MSAR Senior Training and Assessment Officer do? Develop and implement statewide training and assessment initiatives and strategies Develop and maintain the marine search and rescue training resources Provide expertise and guidance to volunteer MSAR units and flotillas to ensure they meet the minimum requirements of the Marine Safety (Domestic Commercial Vessel) National Law Act 2012, and Exemption 24: Emergency Services Vessels This role is based in Melbourne and requires out of business hours work and regular travel across the state away from home to meet the needs of the Volunteer MSAR sector. What skills and knowledge should a MSAR Senior Training and Assessment Officer have? As our ideal candidate, you will have:
Experience in emergency services response activities and be able to apply principles to Marine Search and Rescue. Demonstrated ability to coordinate, plan and deliver multi-unit training and exercising programs across a variety of locations. Strong stakeholder skills to initiate and maintain effective and productive relationships A Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent For further information please refer to the attached position description.
