The team/department: We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Telecommunications Designer at Western Power Head Office, Perth, on a permanent full-time basis.
What you will be doing: As a Senior Telecommunications Designer, you will be focussing on the following:
Carrying out complex concept and detailed designs, including the technical drafting of operational telecommunications solutions in coordination with Telecommunications Design team colleagues Apply Safety in Design principles in the preparation of all concept and detailed design deliverables Provide technical leadership and coaching to colleagues working in graduate and experienced design roles Deliver design services to commercially competitive standards for technical excellence, safety, environmental quality, cost and customer satisfaction Assist in developing and improving new/existing work practices, processes and documentation Operate commercially and competitively in meeting design quality, time and budget standards Investigate, recommend and adopt industry best practice applied to design team outputs What you will get from the role: Western Power isn't just a workplace; it's a community where innovation thrives, safety is paramount, and support is always at hand. The skills and experience you will have: We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
An electrical workers license and/or qualifications in relevant disciplines similar to a AQF6 (Advanced Diploma) or equivalent training (including extensive on-job training) At least 6 to 7 + years experience working within an operational telecommunications design, installation, commissioning, maintenance or operations role Detailed understanding and working knowledge of operational telecommunications system designs, telecommunications configuration, drafting and/or cost estimation practices Sound knowledge of primary and secondary equipment used in Transmission and Distribution substations, including power systems and protection schemes Important information about Western Power: We are committed to our Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2021 - 2027 and ensuring that people with disability have equal opportunities to gain and maintain employment with Western Power.
