Primary Details QBE is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior People Risk Technical Specialist to drive product profitability and growth across all Accident & Health Products. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of our underwriting portfolio, ensuring alignment with QBE's standards within the People Risk division.
Your new role You will build underwriting capability, lead product design and be a key part of our Transform Agenda for People Risk. Operationally, you will maintain rigorous audit and compliance standards, whilst being a key part of our leadership team. Your responsibilities will also include conducting underwriting training programs, managing technical and client referrals, engaging with our clients and partners, and regularly reviewing underwriting authority levels. Additionally, you will stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes, ensuring our practices remain current and compliant. Monitoring and analysing portfolio performance metrics to drive improvements and achieve profitability targets will also be a key aspect of this role.
Additional Responsibilities: Develop and implement effective product strategies, support annual business planning, and ensure alignment with operational objectives and budget goals. Perform underwriting activities in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and establish and maintain underwriting guidelines. Create and develop new products and initiatives to meet market needs, while managing product wordings and extensions. Act as a technical expert to identify opportunities, build relationships with customers and brokers, and stay informed about market dynamics. Oversee new product development, monitor portfolio performance, and implement corrective actions based on performance trends. Provide technical guidance, mentor the team, and ensure effective resource allocation and performance optimization. Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and collaborate with the Product Actuary and Business Unit managers on pricing and reserving processes. About you The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to build and maintain relationships, communicate, negotiate, and influence at a senior level within the insurance industry. Effective planning and budgeting skills are essential, along with a solid track record of strong customer and broker relationships.
Candidates should hold relevant tertiary or industry qualifications and possess extensive underwriting experience, including a background in national underwriting or portfolio management roles. Advanced knowledge of the industry, risk management, portfolio management, and underwriting is required, along with technical expertise in the specified product area.
