Our client, a large top tier Global Asset Management business, are looking to recruit a senior Finance and Tax Professional to manage their Australian Finance & Tax requirements.
This newly created, broad and varied role is mainly in an oversight/review and coordination capacity, with the financial and tax operations teams internally, as well as the outsourced service providers.
The purpose of the role is to ensure the delivery of the finance and taxation function for the Australian business, including developing and maintaining a high level of financial control and management reporting to assist in the management of the business.
Duties & Responsibilities: Lead and manage tax compliance processes for superannuation funds, including preparation and review of tax returns, financial statements, and other related documents. Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies for superannuation fund clients in line with current tax laws and regulatory changes. Oversee the preparation of tax provisions and ensure accurate reporting for financial statements. Provide expert tax advice to internal teams, clients, and senior management on superannuation tax issues, such as capital gains tax, dividend imputation, and withholding taxes. Stay updated on relevant tax legislation and regulatory developments, advising clients and teams on potential impacts and opportunities. Manage relationships with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) and other regulatory bodies, ensuring timely and accurate responses to queries and audits. Mentor and guide junior tax staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and client services, to ensure seamless delivery of tax services. Support the business in tax risk management and compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and governance frameworks Experience & Knowledge: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field. CPA/CA qualification or equivalent professional certification. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in taxation, with a strong focus on superannuation funds. In-depth knowledge of Australian tax laws and regulations governing superannuation funds, including income tax, GST, and superannuation contributions tax. Proven experience in managing tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for large and complex superannuation funds. Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop junior tax professionals. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
