The Opportunity We are seeking talented Senior Systems Engineers to join our Battlespace Communication System (BCS) Program. BCS is a next generation networking product that is the centerpiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off the shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability for ADF personnel. It can be deployed in a variety of environments, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customized for various mission needs.

Responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering world class capabilities across the full product development lifecycle. Your role will have an evolving set of responsibilities as the project progresses, including:
Conducting user needs analysis including developing operational definition documents;Understanding, analysing and championing customer requirements leading to the development of innovative solutions;Developing and managing function and performance specifications;Undertaking system modelling and developing system architectures using digital engineering tools;Working with other design and specialty disciplines (e.g. software, hardware, safety, security and support system engineering) to ensure that your team's products are properly integrated into the solution and delivered in a way that delights the customer;Designing and integrating components, sub-systems and systems;Conducting test and evaluation activities including establishing test strategies, developing test plans, procedures and reports, and executing test and demonstration activities;Verifying and validating designs and products to ensure they meet operational and functional requirements;Development and review of engineering documentation and configuration management of system hardware and software;Supporting program milestone reviews;Providing leadership and mentoring to early-career engineers to help grow the experience of the team and deliver innovative, high-quality products and outcomes;Working with the project team to ensure the engineering scope is delivered within the quality, schedule and budgetary constraints of the project.Experience/Qualifications To thrive in this role you will:
Have experience in systems engineering within complex defence programs in the land or maritime domain, preferably across the entire systems acquisition lifecycle;Have experience working with or in product development teams, with a focus on communications, networking, software or computing products;Have excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable you to influence outcomes in a team environment, coach junior engineers, and engage with customer representatives;Tertiary degree qualification in an engineering or related technical discipline;Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.We invite a diverse range of people to apply, including people from outside of the defence industry.
