Your next opportunity awaits at NTRO Our Sustainability & Materials Performance (SMP) team is responsible for the science, research, analysis, and advice to clients on a range of important transport infrastructure concerns.
NTRO is instrumental in the research and development of recycled materials being applied within the Australian Road & Rail network.
The SMP team currently has two vacancies.
These roles can be based in Perth, Melbourne, or Brisbane.

About the roles & youSustainability/ Environmental ProfessionalHold a bachelor's or higher qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Science, or other relevant areas.Relevant experience in lifecycle assessment and environmental impact assessment of using emerging technologies, materials, or products.Work on projects related to sustainable/recycled infrastructure materials, waste management, and environmental management.An understanding of climate change risk assessments and climate adaptation practices.A true passion for developing and contributing to projects related to sustainability within the transport infrastructure space.Exceptional analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.An understanding of environmental impact assessments.Desired skillset:Experience dealing with or understanding environmental legislation.Experience dealing with environmental protection agencies or understanding their requirements.Relevant practical/commercial experience such as capability to undertake contaminated land assessments and remediation.Sustainable Infrastructure Materials EngineerHold a bachelor's or higher qualification in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related areas.Work on projects related to sustainable/recycled infrastructure materials, waste management, and environmental management.Continue to develop an understanding of government sustainability policies, environmental regulations, and technical and safety risks associated with the use of recycled materials.Design and conduct laboratory studies and field trials, interpret and translate scientific and complex results, and communicate them clearly.Be passionate about testing and implementing emerging infrastructure materials, contributing to the commercialization of sustainable materials.Sound knowledge of road construction and transport corridor materials, including asphalt, concrete, and granular materials.An understanding of the pathway towards global decarbonization and outcomes of COP26 including the Paris Agreement.Key skills and requirements for both rolesMust have 7+ years of relevant experience with a strong understanding of sustainable transport and infrastructure practices.Track record of leading the delivery of projects to agreed scope, budget, quality, and timetable requirements.Highly developed interpersonal skills that allow constructive conversations with a range of stakeholders.Growing track record of writing compelling proposals and business cases.Proactive approach in identifying new clients/areas of interest.Highly developed collaboration skills, demonstrated experience in working with experts/professionals from multiple business/disciplinary areas.We offer the following and more to ensure we look after our people:Opportunities to work with globally recognized experts, who offer one-on-one mentorship and support throughout your career.Excellent employee benefits including access to pre-tax salary sacrifice arrangements.Access to 8 weeks of parental leave and support upon your return to the workplace.Annual Christmas closure with additional paid public holidays in December.Tailored career development that supports your aspirations.Reward and recognition programs to highlight the great work being done.Well-established social club in almost all offices.Every role at NTRO is meaningful, are you ready for yours?
