The team/department: You will be joining Western Power's Asset Management team within our Engineering & Design function. The Senior Substation Draftsperson is accountable for delivering competitive high-quality engineering design, drafting, estimating and consulting products and services associated with substations in a safe, reliable, efficient and commercially responsible manner. This will be achieved through the use of technical knowledge, experience, skills and applying standards and following business processes to undertake assigned detail design work without supervision.
What you will be doing: Responsible for the delivery of, and supporting as required, the drafting work in a multidiscipline environment associated with assigned substation projects. Required to apply skills, knowledge and experience to complete assigned tasks to relevant standards, taking into account task performance requirements, task management and contingency management. Providing technical leadership relating to aspects such as drafting software and drawing management, the compilation and continuous updating of drafting standards/templates. Manage the inter-relationship between their own work and the work of others by facilitating open and trusting workplace relations and communication, and by providing direction, coaching and training to other draftspersons. Comply with detail design/drafting related process improvement initiatives to achieve optimal service delivery and safety initiatives. The skills and experience you will have: We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
At least 10 years demonstrated working knowledge and experience within substation primary, civil & structural and/or secondary detail design, drafting and standards (including Australian Standards) and tools. Working knowledge of engineering standards and regulations applicable to substation detail design/drafting. Working knowledge of specialist CAD applications applicable such as Microstation. Extensive working knowledge of other disciplines associated with substation design.
