People Division, led by the Chief People Officer (CPO), provides human resources (HR) functions for the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the department) with a clear focus on the department's most valued asset: its staff.
Alongside contemporary HR functions, projects and strategies, People Division is also responsible for enhancing the department's focus on safety, enterprise bargaining, cultural and change management, professional and ethical standards, and the department's response to Australian Public Service (APS) Reforms.
The Professional, Ethical Standards and Security Branch is responsible for Professional and Ethical Standards, Personnel, Information and Capability Security, Enterprise Change Management functions, and the Department's Sustainability Taskforce.
Professional and Ethical Standards sets the integrity policy framework for the department, and works to prevent, detect, and respond to internal fraud, corruption and misconduct, liaising closely with internal stakeholders to build a pro-integrity culture through positive workplace values and behaviours.
The vacancies advertised are within the Strategy, Policy and Engagement Section, which are responsible for managing the department's integrity framework, including reviewing and updating integrity-related policies.
The team is the point of contact for general integrity engagement for the department, such as developing integrity training and awareness sessions and preparing integrity communication.
The team is the coordination point for all executive reporting, data reporting and trend monitoring.
You will contribute to strategic and project work within the branch, including by supporting building awareness and understanding of the department's processes for managing reports of inappropriate behaviour, fraud and corruption disclosable conduct and serious and systemic corrupt conduct.
The Job
As a Senior Officer – Strategy Policy and Engagement, you will be responsible for:
Developing, facilitating and delivering integrity engagement events and activities including training and awareness sessions. Developing and contributing to integrity-related policies, procedures, guidelines and other governance material. Fostering a culture of professionalism, inclusiveness, respect, and pride in the delivery of high-quality work. Providing expert advice on matters specific to the Branch's remit, such as the department's processes for managing reports of inappropriate behaviour, early intervention and local management action, integrity policies, Public Interest Disclosure procedures and matters that may give rise to serious or systemic corruption. Developing and contributing to high-level, strategic and operational briefs including for Senate Estimates, Executive Board and for other Committees. Working effectively with stakeholders across the department to drive prevention initiatives, including outreach, communication and awareness raising. What we are looking for Knowledge and experience Demonstrated experience working in a policy role, including preparing policy advice and briefing material. Demonstrated experience in developing and facilitating training and engagement activities. Proven ability to deliver quality outcomes in a high intensity environment as well as success in leading teams, guiding and coaching others. Strong organisational skills, with clear attention to detail. Demonstrate flexibility and manage day-to-day work changes and shifting priorities effectively. Skills and capabilities Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare quality briefings, submissions for senior management, committees, and Government decisions. Demonstrated experience in building stakeholder relationships to harness opportunities and deliver agency-wide outcomes. Ability to lead the implementation of creative and innovative integrity-related events and activities that support a pro-integrity culture across the department. Demonstrated ability to drive a positive workplace culture and empower staff to deliver program outcomes and build capability during evolving priorities. Eligibility Citizenship - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance - This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
Pre-employment Check - Your suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process.
This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment medical assessment, specified mandatory qualification(s) validation and a probation period of 6 months.
