Your new role
As a Senior Statutory Planner, you will play a pivotal role in implementing and administering statutory planning controls. You will provide quality and timely advice to the Council, community, and stakeholders on growth area planning.
Your responsibilities will include: Collaborate with all sections within the Planning Department to ensure a cohesive approach.Provide expert advice to senior leadership on statutory planning issues.Draft Committee and Council reports, and reports on delegated matters with recommendations from the Team Leader and/or Manager.Investigate, inspect, report, and process planning applications, including those with significant or complex issues, with relevant knowledge of PSPs.Prepare appeal and panel submissions, representing the Council at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and panel hearings.Address enquiries and explain planning matters to both professional and non-professional individuals and groups.Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and review of Council policies.Prepare correspondence related to reports and enquiries.Represent the Council at functions, meetings, and seminars, both during and outside normal working hours, promoting a positive public image.Stay updated with relevant developments, legislation, and regulations.Support and assist department staff to achieve individual and corporate objectives.Promote our values of Dream Big, Empower Each Other, and Make our Community Proud.Adhere to our commitment to creating a child-safe and child-friendly city.
What you'll need to succeedA Degree or Diploma in Town Planning, Urban Studies, Urban Geography, or a related field.Extensive experience as a Town Planner, preferably with local government experience.Strong understanding of statutory planning controls and Precinct Structure Plans (PSPs).Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.Proven ability to manage time, set priorities, and work efficiently under pressure.A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to develop innovative solutions.Current Australian Driving Licence.Working with Children Check and National Criminal History Check.What you'll get in return
