Operating from within Spatial Information, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a team involved in the acquisition, maintenance, management, and delivery of authoritative foundation spatial datasets as part of the national Spatial Data Infrastructure and in the development of Web Map and Web Feature Services on behalf of the State of Queensland. The primary focus of this position is location address and road/track information management.

About the role:
• Provide specialist advice to staff and customers in the field of spatial information associated with mapping and surveying, geographic information systems (GIS) and natural resource data management and associated products and services.
• Create innovative solutions and efficient processes to improve spatial information data management and delivery of associated products and services.
• Maintain knowledge of technologies and business processes to provide management with analysis of alternatives and recommendations for business improvement and innovation.
• Liaise and negotiate with staff, other Government Departments, and private organisations, ensuring the needs of internal and external customers are met.

We'll do this by assessing your eligibility and your ability to undertake the requirements of the role (including, where relevant, the way you carried out previous roles). We'll also consider your potential to make contributions to the department and how your engagement would support our commitment to equity, diversity, respect, and inclusion.
This position requires:
• A university degree from a recognised tertiary institution or overseas qualification recognition as stated in the Mandatory Requirements section.
• Extensive experience in spatial information technologies, geographic information systems and/or web services for spatial information products and services is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• If your qualification is from an overseas institution, you will need to attach a certified copy of the official recognition to your application.
