This pool recruitment process will be used to fill permanent, fixed term, full time and part time vacancies that may arise over a period of 12 months from the date of finalisation of the recruitment process. Fixed term appointments may be made with the possibility of extension/s and/or permanency.
There is currently one fixed term position available leading the Elder Rights WA team.
About the Division The Civil Law Division of Legal Aid WA is on a mission to assist people, particularly those experiencing entrenched disadvantage, who are vulnerable to civil legal problems, to understand their rights, and empower them to achieve just outcomes.
We are a multi-disciplinary Division which incorporates a number of specialist services, including Elder Rights WA, NDIS Appeals, Federal Court Self-Represented Litigants Service, Work and Development Permit Service, Health Justice Partnerships, and services related to money, housing and work.
About the position We now need someone who loves working in a dynamic and fast paced environment to lead the Elder Rights WA team. The leader of this team forms part of the Executive Leadership Team of the Civil Law Division and reports directly to the Civil Law Division Director.
As the manager of Elder Rights WA, you will represent the Division Director and Legal Aid WA at a high level, including with Ministerial and MP offices.
About you We are looking for a Pool of lawyers who:
Can lead legal and non-legal staff, by motivating and empowering their team and providing strong mentorship.Can provide legal representation, legal advice, and minor assistance services at an advanced level, and legal supervision to legal staff.Have a 'can-do' attitude and be motivated to upskill in new and relevant areas of law. Experience in either financial, property, or guardianship and administration will be highly regarded.Have experience working with clients who have complex needs and an understanding of the non-legal issues impacting our clients.Are familiar with managing funding agreements, including budgeting, and financial and data reporting.Communicate with a high degree of professionalism.About us and what we can offer you We offer a strong team working environment, the satisfaction of adding value to the community, and a range of benefits in line with business requirements.
