The Senior Solicitor role sits within the Legislation Team in the Public and Administrative Law Unit within the Legal and Legislation Branch, and will report to the Managing Principal Solicitor, Legislation.The responsibilities of the Senior Solicitor, Legislation will include, but are not limited to:Provide authoritative advice on complex legal, legislative, regulatory and policy issues and proposals under limited supervision.Lead or support the development of bills and regulations under limited supervision. Draft, review and advise on a range of legal and legislative documentation, including instruments, agreements, Cabinet submissions and explanatory memorandums, dealing with complex issues, including development of precedents.Advise departmental and agency staff on processes and requirements for primary and subordinate legislation.Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues in the Legislation Team, the Legal Branch, program areas across the Department and with external lawyers.The TeamThe position of Senior Solicitor, Legislation forms a part of the Legal and Legislation Branch. The Legal and Legislation Branch is the centralised provider of legal services to the Department.
