About the Role As a software engineer, you will be part of Fixed Income eTrading (eFI) team within Markets Technology Area, under Institutional Technology Domain. Our team is delivering, as part of our eFICC program, the best in-class services for our Fixed Income business to improve our customers' experience through automated solutions. What will your day look like? As a Senior Software Engineer, you are expected to focus on best practice approaches on software engineering and development. You will provide specialist technical expertise, support design and development of solutions that meet long term business and customer needs. Your resolution should be stable, secure, scalable, extensible and maintainable. Your role includes ensuring that designs are in compliance with architectural standards and guidelines, advising on functional issues and mentoring developers as they work through designing, coding, configuring and testing solutions.
Work in Agile setup, participating to the relevant scrum ceremonies with your squad
Collaborate with the squad to ensure the technical design is aligned to the initiative goal and objectives
Work with traders, quantitative analysts, java engineers, analysts and testers to deliver low latency Fixed Income trading systems
Enable continuous delivery practices to increase delivery speed
Work in collaborative teams to build innovative solutions
Utilise tools and practices (GIT, Codefresh, uDeploy etc.) to build, verify and deploy solutions in the most efficient ways, enhancing tech division capabilities
Implement a culture within the Tribe and the Chapter, encouraging best practices around reviews, quality and documentation
Contribute to Engineering communities, meetups and conferences to promote technology development culture and practices
Provide ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management
Create estimates and continuously review demand within the individual squads/teams
May create, understand and monitor application metrics
What will you bring? To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
Strong core Java 8 and higher
Good experience in frameworks Spring MVC/Spring Boot with REST Web services
Good expertise in ORM frameworks like Hibernate, JPA etc.
Multi-threaded programming and OO design
Shell/Bash scripting
Building high throughput low latency java software including performance tuning and optimisation to achieve microsecond latencies.
Knowledge of automated testing techniques using Junit, Jest, Selenium, WebDriverIO and Cucumber Framework
Knowledge of messaging system such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Active MQ etc.
Experience in Reactive programming and Event driven architecture.
Passionate, self-starter with the ability to work on problems from inception to completion
Strong communication skills with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to collaborate within Markets Front Office, support and trading stakeholders
Strong academic background, preferably in computer science
Many years of experience in end-to-end design & development lifecycle in a complex environment which will require integration with several systems
Strong experience in cloud computing platforms like Amazon Web Services is preferred
Financial Services and/or Banking experience including Capital Markets exposure is preferred
Knowledge of ION Marketview (3rd party vendor software) as optional
