About the roleWe are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Senior Software/Electronic Engineer to join New Technology Team. PMB's New Technology team is the innovation centre of PMB Defence. The team are focussed on developing new products for our customers across conventional and nuclear submarine platforms, as well as investigating new and emerging opportunities outside of our traditional space. This is about more than just batteries; this is about building systems that enhance the capability of our customers products. The Senior Software/Electronic Engineer will be responsible for providing an inhouse software engineering capability to support New Technologies battery management system development. Key responsibilities will include:Identifying complex issues/ product improvements and the business case for both internal and external stakeholders, including the associated budget and schedule;Leading and delivering the resolution of defined complex issues within the constraints of quality, budget and schedule;Leading and delivering the execution of projects and company initiatives;Provide specialist advice and consulting services, as required, to management, other Engineers and external clients.Designing, developing and verification of new products, processes, and improvements to existing products.Maintenance support for new products.Mentoring other engineersThe successful candidate will have:Tertiary qualifications in Electronic or Software Engineering or Computer ScienceDemonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, embedded software systems;Proven ability in the development, implementation of complex technical projects;Experience in development of products using one or more of C, Python 3.x or similar scripting languages, modelling, and software engineering processes.Team leadership experience (desirable)Excellent written communication skills for production of specifications, plans and reports.Knowledge or experience in electronic product development (desirable)Experience in development of Qt for embedded Linux applications (desirable)Experience in development of GUIs on an embedded Linux platform (desirable)Knowledge in battery management systems (desirable)PrerequisitesBe eligible to successfully obtain and maintain a NV1 Australian Defence Security Clearance (must be an Australian Citizen) Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and Drug & Alcohol screenAbility to travel occasionally overseas and interstateWorking at PMBAt PMB we are proud of our culture of inclusiveness with a clear focus on our people.
