Come and join the wonderful team of Social Workers at St George Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated social worker to join the Social Work Department at St George Hospital. This temporary full time senior level 3 position is located within our Aged Care Team. You will be part of a large, dedicated and highly skilled department working with culturally and socially diverse patients and their families. All of our positions are also required to provide support to other areas within the hospital as required. Applicants are advised that at times the position involves working with vulnerable people and people experiencing trauma. Applicants are also advised that this position includes ongoing participation in the after-hours on call crisis service, including weekends. We appreciate that Social Work in public health can be tough, so we have a suite of wellbeing initiatives occurring across the department to make sure we're caring for ourselves as well as our patients. Where you'll be working The Social Work Department is comprised of a large, dedicated and skilled workforce providing a high level of evidence-based patient care. Our departmental wellbeing and social committee also ensures that we support ourselves as well as we support our patients and their families. The St George Hospital and Health Services is part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. It is an accredited, principal teaching hospital of the University of New South Wales and is not only the largest hospital within the Local Health District, but is among the leading centres for trauma and emergency management in NSW. St George Hospital is located 14kms from the Sydney CBD with easy road links to Sydney's north, south and west. Just a 10 minute walk from Kogarah train station, St George Hospital is very easily accessible by public transport. The local suburb of Kogarah offers employees with easy access to a range of local cafes, shops, services and supermarkets, including the waterside lifestyle at Brighton le Sands and shopping and cinemas at Westfield Hurstville. What you'll be doing The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is 'exceptional care, healthier lives'. Plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within a social work specialty area in order to provide high quality counselling, advocacy and therapeutic care to the patients, their carers and families of the facility consistent with NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing. All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant. Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.
