Join Challenger as a Senior Risk Manager, Group Risk focusing on the delivery of key risk initiatives on a 12-month contract.

Innovate and influence in a senior risk role, you'll play a crucial part in driving change and shaping risk management practices across the organisation. We work flexibly from our Sydney CBD Office where you can expect to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
About the role.
Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance, you'll be leading and delivering key risk initiatives which improve, enhance, and maintain Challenger's strong risk culture. You'll also support the development and implementation of group risk and compliance frameworks and systems, while providing risk and compliance guidance to Challenger's corporate functions.
A role where no two days will be the same, you'll work holistically across a wide portfolio of risk & compliance initiatives. Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Key Projects CPS 230: Drive and implement the uplift of our operational risk management framework, aligning with CPS 230, and enhance third-party and technology risk management. GRC System Replacement: Play a crucial role in the replacement of our Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) system. You will contribute to the design of risk processes and workflows, and support training and change management activities. Risk Culture: Support risk culture monitoring improvements and implementation of action plans, including risk communications to maintain Challenger's strong risk culture. Risk Coaching & Training: Developing and delivering training, change management activities and communications for risk projects and risk culture initiatives. Stakeholder Engagement: Operate as a true risk partner and trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing expert guidance on risk management and compliance issues across the organisation. Framework Development: Oversee and provide recommendations to continuously improve risk frameworks and essential policies. Risk Assessments and Assurance: Support risk workshops, control self-assessments, and perform Line 2 assurance reviews to enhance risk management. Risk Insights: Monitor and evaluate the external regulatory environment and emerging industry trends to recommend best practices in risk management. The skills and experience you'll need.
You'll be an experienced Risk professional with at least 5+ years' experience in risk management, audit, or a similar advisory role ideally from within financial services. Given the seniority of the role, you will need to have experience operating at an experienced Risk Manager or Senior Risk Manager level. As this role has a project delivery focus, you will also need to have demonstrable experience in driving and leading risk initiatives across an organisation.

Strong communication skills with experience partnering with executive stakeholders and delivering best practice advice and guidance on all things risk and compliance. Experience presenting to others in a confident and professional manner and have a knack for conveying information clearly, accurately, and succinctly. Sound knowledge of financial services laws and regulatory frameworks. Strong understanding of risk and compliance management practices and frameworks. The ability to think laterally to provide pragmatic, balanced advice. Highly Desirable
Experience in Third Party Risk Management/Supplier Governance Experience with GRC systems (e.g., Nasdaq BWise, RSA Archer). Additional Information
