About us The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role Working with a small team, this role will support DGS and its customers to manage their risk and assurance obligations, delivering initiatives to embed strong risk and assurance practices.
You will use your understanding of legislation and standards governing public sector risk management and audit to support the development and delivery of the risk and audit programs for DGS and its customers.
You will rely on your sound conceptual and analytical skills, strong initiative, and a 'can do' approach to ensure a high level of services are delivered and appropriate solutions are developed to solve business problems.

The role is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of efficient and effective shared services for Government which strengthen departmental decision-making and support strong risk management and assurance.
Key Accountabilities include: Support the development and delivery of the risk and audit services to meet the needs of the customer and ensure compliance with their obligations.Provide insightful, impactful, and value-add analysis and advice on the branch's work program to senior executives, boards of management, audit committees, and to other stakeholders, through meeting papers, briefings, and submissions.Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to risk and assurance and build understanding of these requirements across the business.About you To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
An understanding of legislation and standards governing public sector risk management and audit.Sound conceptual and analytical skills, strong initiative, and a 'can do' approach to identify issues and develop appropriate solutions to solve business problems and improve efficiency and effectiveness.High level of attention to detail and demonstrated ability to make sense of large volumes of complex information quickly, identify quality of argument with limited information or knowledge, and identify errors and inconsistencies in content, style, and logic.Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, provide advice on processes and policies, and work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing complex briefs, letters, emails, and reports using clear, concise, and grammatically correct language and ensuring that appropriate style and formats are used.Proven ability to be flexible and adaptable, prioritise attaining results and accomplishing tasks, can manage multiple tasks efficiently and distinguish between the more and less critical activities.Relevant qualification or suitable experience in risk management or auditing.This position is only open to applicants with relevant rights to work in Australia.
