About This Opportunity We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Research Assistant to join the School of Education at UQ, working under the guidance of Associate Professor Marnee Shay.
In this role, you will collaborate with leading researchers in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education, contributing to the advancement of policy and practice in this vital field.
Your responsibilities will encompass a range of activities, including specific research tasks, project management, financial support, and other administrative duties as needed.
As a Senior Research Assistant, you will provide specialised technical expertise and subject matter knowledge, playing a key role in delivering high-quality research outcomes across all stages of the research lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities: Undertakes advanced elements of research in accordance with scientific/research discipline or methodology.
Applies specialist technical skills or knowledge to research activities.
Under broad direction, sets up, monitors and demonstrates standard experiments and equipment use.
Ensures a high standard of research housekeeping.
Assists with developing a proactive safety culture and implements continuous improvement.
Provides project management across school-based and research projects.
May undertake fieldwork doing data collection where needed.
May supervise and support local researchers located in communities across Queensland.

About You Completion of a relevant degree in a relevant discipline with subsequent experience in coordinating activities or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated research-relevant knowledge and skills with expertise in a wide range of specialist and general research techniques, including data management.
Significant experience of working in project management or research support.
Advanced technical capabilities in excel, word, and NIVIVO
Relevant experience in a research support or project management role, preferably with experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities or the capability to quickly acquire this knowledge and apply it in the workplace.
Well-developed problem-solving skills, with an ability to forward plan, prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and work with a high level of adaptability, both independently and as part of a team.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to produce clear, succinct documentation.
Willingness to learn UQ systems including finance, marketing and communications and HR.
The ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a research environment.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
