About the Department of Intensive Care The Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital Geelong is a modern 24-bed tertiary, mixed unit.
It is the largest regional ICU in Victoria, with over 1600 admissions per year.
It is designated as a CICM C24/AP6 Unit for core adult ICU training and paediatric intensive care experience.
Our case mix is diverse including cardiothoracic surgery, general and subspecialty surgical patients, medical and subspecialty medical patients and a busy haematology oncology service.
As a Tier 2 VECMOS accredited ECMO site we also have an established ECMO service.
Our ICU also provides an Outreach service with Rapid Response Team and consultation for unwell patients outside the ICU.

About the Role The clinical component of the Senior Registrar/Transition Year Fellow position includes leading daily ward rounds, directing patient management, supervising junior medical staff, and overseeing their duties, liaising with other specialty services and developing advanced procedural skills under the direction of the supervising Intensivists.
Experience in providing first on call cover to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after hours under the supervision of an immediately available Intensivist is included in the role.
Our senior trainees are expected to assist with the coordination and delivery of the weekly junior medical staff education programs.
This includes CICM examination preparation, monthly echocardiography teaching, and journal club.
Coordination and oversight of other regular unit meetings, audits, and activities is also part of the role.
Additionally, fellows will be supported to undertake external training and gain qualifications within their particular areas of interest.
The successful applicants will also assist in general reporting and participate in the roster for after-hours, on-call and recall by the unit.
