Senior Quality Test Engineer

Details of the offer

As a Senior Quality Test Engineer, you will be providing support to various teams across the organisation to adopt agile testing, test automation and quality practices. Ensuring that new and amended systems, configurations, packages, or services, together with any interfaces, perform as specified, and that the risks associated with deployment are adequately understood and documented.
This is a 6 month cover contract; and you would be brought on as a salaried member of staff.
What will you be doing?
Conducting both automated and manual testing activities across all IT solutions, ensuring that testing activities accurately assess business acceptance criteria for IT project and product deliverables. Collaborating effectively in a cross-functional team environment, advocating for quality in all aspects of the delivery lifecycle, and developing quality strategies to ensure consistently high standards. Preparing test data and documentation, including test plans and test cases, and executing system, integration, performance, and regression testing as required. Applying appropriate test tools to ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of RAC application systems, and raising any defects found during test cycles in a defect management tool. Advising business units on user acceptance testing activities and interpreting, executing, and documenting complex test scripts. Mentoring other members of the Quality and Testing team, coaching analysts and engineers in the execution of test automation and advocating for quality control processes organisation wide. Ensuring automated regression test packs are up to date, identifying automation test scenarios, maintaining and enhancing the automation framework, leveraging CI/CD for test automation scheduling, and being accountable for the automation backlog to reduce technical debt and drive continuous improvements.
What are we looking for in you?
Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (IT or Business) are desirable, with ISTQB Foundation/Advanced Test Analyst and Certified Agile Tester accreditation being highly desirable. Significant experience in developing automated tests and frameworks using tools such as Selenium, NUnit, and Playwright, and thorough knowledge of testing methodologies and processes (e.g., TDD/BDD, Risk-Based Testing, exploratory testing). Significant experience in an Agile development environment and modern enterprise-level IT system testing. Experience using issue and scope tracking tools (e.g., Jira), with experience in performance testing being desirable. Ability to develop a detailed understanding of systems and business processes, test complex integrations, and design and review test plans, cases, and reports. Expertise in designing, reviewing, and maintaining automated test suites and tools (C#, TypeScript). Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on quality, alongside strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Availability to meet operational working hours, reasonable overtime, be on-call outside of working hours as required, and travel between RAC sites, including occasional regional or interstate travel.
