Job location Forensicare provides specialist forensic mental health services across 12 of Victoria's 14 prisons, with expansion underway to include Western Plains in the Barwon region. This position, based at Ravenhall Correctional Centre in Melbourne's west, provides 75 prison-based custodial mental health beds as well as assessments and outpatient services in a maximum-security forensic mental health complex within the medium-security prison.
About the Role: There are currently part-time fixed-term, part-time permanent, or full-time permanent Senior Psychologist (P3) positions available with Forensicare at Ravenhall Correctional Centre. The positions are based in one of two programs: Moroka and Erskine. 
The Moroka unit is a 10-bed unit that provides specialist mental health care, treatment and programs to prisoners with repetitive and entrenched complex and challenging behaviours associated with mental illness, predominately personality disorder. Psychologists, along with other members of the multidisciplinary team, work collaboratively to deliver a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)-based model to support recovery and behaviour change (training in the model is provided). 
The Erskine unit is a 30-bed subacute mental health unit that provides early intervention to consumers at risk of becoming acutely unwell, support for consumers recovering from an acute episode of mental illness, and recovery opportunities for consumers experiencing unremitting and severe symptoms of mental illness. 
Duties: Provide specialist mental health assessment, group and individual intervention, and clinical management of consumers engaged in Forensicare programs.Provide a high level of clinical psychological expertise, consultation, and advice to Forensicare clinicians, GEO prison and clinical staff, and primary health staff on complex clinical matters.Participate in training and supervising psychology placement students, interns, and staff of other disciplines where appropriate.About You: Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recoveryA good understanding of the current psychological approaches in working with male consumers experiencing mental illness in the forensic mental health settingFor the Moroka program, understanding or experience with behavioural or third-wave therapies (e.g. ACT, DBT) would be an advantagePrevious working experience in a mental health facility or a forensic mental health service would be an advantageKnowledge in clinical forensic psychology, including forensic assessments (e.g., assessment of risk for violence) and intervention with offenders and/or forensic clients, would be an advantageWhat you need: Master or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited course or equivalent, or a Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APAC accredited course or equivalent.Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential.Have you recently graduated?
