About the role
As our Senior Project Risk Specialist, you will manage our project portfolio with diligence and strategic foresight.
You will provide expert risk advice, oversight, and constructive challenge across the bank's diverse projects, ensuring alignment with our established project governance and operational risk management frameworks.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Risk Management & Governance: Provide risk advice, review, and challenge to Program Directors and Project Managers to ensure risks are being managed in alignment with the bank's project governance and operational risk frameworks.Ensure consistent project risk governance processes are implemented across programs and that portfolio and program-level risks are accurately reported to governance forums. Program & Portfolio Risk Profiling: Collaborate with Program Directors and Project Managers to undertake risk profiling for programs and the overall portfolio, ensuring that risks are identified, managed, and reported effectively.Review project risk registers to validate that risks are appropriately described, rated, and mitigated; and that risk backlogs are actively tracked and managed. Risk Culture & Maturity: Lead efforts to increase the maturity of risk management practices across the project portfolio, promoting continuous improvement in risk awareness and mitigation strategies.Advocate for and support risk accountability across the portfolio, ensuring projects take ownership of managing both delivery and delivered risks.Develop and maintain risk awareness materials and deliver regular risk induction sessions for new project team members. Assurance & Audit Support: Escalate issues and incidents in accordance with the bank's operational risk management framework.Provide support during audits and assurance reviews, ensuring that risk management practices comply with the operational risk framework and project governance requirements. Leadership: Leverage extensive experience to provide expert advice on best practice project risk governance and assurance approaches within projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards and strategic objectives.Drive the implementation of project risk management processes, frameworks, and tools to improve the organisation's risk posture. About You
We're looking for someone with at least 6 years' experience in project and portfolio risk management, preferably within financial services.
You will also demonstrate:
Deep understanding of risk frameworks, operational risk, project risk, and project governance in highly regulated environments such as banking.Proven ability to engage with and influence senior leaders and stakeholders, promoting risk awareness and accountability.Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex risk information clearly and persuasively to stakeholders.Ability to challenge and review project risk data to ensure robust risk management processes are in place.
