Senior Project Officer

Details of the offer

About the role We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Officer to join our team. This is a hands-on role and is pivotal to ensuring the Strategic Local Government Asset Assessment Project is delivered on time and on budget. You will work under the supervision of a Project Manager and use your suite of project management skills to develop project briefs, provide advice, develop and implement project plans, and track progress.
Stakeholder engagement is key to the role, and you will work closely with project managers to deliver key communication, engagement and learning activities and deal with a range of stakeholders. In particular, you will work with local councils to enhance their ability to make decisions on what heavy vehicles can access their roads.
This is a temporary full-time role until 30 June 2026, preferably based in Brisbane in a close-knit and high-performing team. On offer is a flexible, supportive, and inclusive work environment where the work you produce plays an important part in freight and supply logistics in Australia.
About You You don't need to know anything about the heavy vehicle industry or issues around local council road access (although you'll get bonus points if you do). However, you will have extensive experience in project environments with strong skills in project scheduling, data analysis, planning, and reporting.
As the ideal candidate, you will have a demonstrated ability to work independently, organise and prioritise tasks, resolve complex problems, and manage deadlines. You will work well as part of a team to provide consistent, responsive, and high-quality advice and project support.
You will be a proactive, clear, and factual communicator with the ability to explain technical information to a non-technical audience. Your lateral thinking and influential stakeholder engagement will see you thrive in this role.
Application Process If the above position sounds like an opportunity for you, please apply with your CV and cover letter addressing the essential requirements of the role.
Please note: No agency applications will be accepted at this time.
Applications close 8 November 2024 with interviews to occur shortly after. Further information and the position description can be found on the NHVR Careers site - NHVR Careers. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the NHVR recruitment team on ******.
Successful applicants will be required to complete a national police and work rights check.
We are committed to being an inclusive, diverse and flexible workplace where differences are valued. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experience, and abilities. About us The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as the national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. The NHVR minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.
We are headquartered in Brisbane and employ more than 900 people across the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria.
