About the Role
*This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 June 2026* The Activity Centre Program is a key Housing Statement initiative, to deliver more homes close to services, jobs, and transport across Melbourne.
An initial 10 activity centres have been identified where state-led strategic planning will be undertaken to introduce new planning controls by the end of 2024, allowing an additional 60,000 homes to be built.
The Activity Centre Division works across State Government and with local government, industry and the community to implement the Government's Activity Centre Program.
The role of the Senior Project Officer, Activity Centres requires a motivated individual with demonstrated experience in project delivery, stakeholder management and governance in the public or private sectors.
Experience in strategic planning is also highly desirable.
The Senior Project Officer is responsible for supporting delivery of the program, including communication and engagement activities, establishing and maintaining effective program management systems, and government approval processes.
In a high-profile and collaborative environment, the Senior Project Officer maintains relationships across State and local Government and interfaces with related Housing Statement initiatives to deliver State policy objectives.
Position Outcomes The Senior Project Officer, Activity Centres, is tasked with managing all aspects of major planning projects, including resource allocation, budgeting, programming, complex procurement, contract management, risk assessment, and project milestones and deliverables.
This role also encompasses project governance and reporting.
In terms of stakeholder relationship building, the officer establishes strong connections and networks across government, including with the Victorian Planning Authority and local councils, to enhance program delivery.
The position involves providing high-quality, authoritative advice and preparing submissions, reports, business cases, and briefs.
These documents support government objectives and address emerging or complex issues related to Activity Centres and future program rollout.
Additionally, the officer supports program communications, including community and industry engagement activities, ensuring effective dissemination of information and stakeholder involvement in planning processes.
Qualifications and Experience
