The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is a leadership role within the Academic Project Operations division and is responsible for the management of a large and complex clinical trial for people with high blood pressure, based in the Primary Care setting.
The SPM is also responsible for line management of a group of Project Managers (PMs), including providing project mentorship/guidance to PMs and their teams, assisting in developing project knowledge and improving their execution. Key Responsibilities and Duties:
The SPM will maintain effective professional relationships with the internal project team, investigators, internal and external stakeholders, and vendors. The SPM will provide clear guidance to the project team on project specific deliverables. All activities must be conducted in accordance with project specific documentation, applicable SOPs, ICH GCP (if applicable) and applicable regulatory requirements. Our Successful Candidate has:
Tertiary qualifications in a related science or health care discipline and may have specialist qualifications. Advanced skills and proven ability to manage large-scale and complex projects ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and project objectives. In-depth understanding of clinical trial management, particularly of investigator-initiated trials and preferably involving hypertension or similar therapeutic areas. Comprehensive knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and ethical and regulatory requirements, with experience ensuring compliance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in clinical trials. Experience in managing NHMRC/MRFF budgets and reporting requirements (or similar). Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to address challenges, generate innovative ideas and ensure smooth project progression. Strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide and support direct reports and their teams, develop project knowledge, improve execution, and motivate teams to achieve project goals. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience and skills in effectively working and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of electronic medical data capture, data linkage, and primary care electronic medical systems. Proficient in utilising Microsoft Office suite and/or other platforms for effective project management and communication tasks. Ability to be flexible and adaptable to evolving project goals and timelines and adapting quickly to changing priorities and requirements. Ability to travel.
