Senior Project Manager
Full-time Temporary Details: The Design and Place Strategy team deliver design-led, people-focused urban renewal projects in the designated City Renewal Precinct which encourage and promote social and environmental sustainability. We consult with the community, business, and government to deliver new buildings and places within the precinct that are of exemplary design quality, excite interest and participation and attract new investment. The Authority also provides strategic guidance through the development of documents and preparation of design advice that supports our urban renewal objectives.
Our team is currently made up of landscape architects, architects and urban designers who focus on ensuring best/next practice outcomes in our precinct that are people-centred, place-led and of design excellence.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will have a direct impact on making Canberra a better place to live. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and trust as you deliver projects and provide urban design advice that make meaningful contributions to the physical and social vibrancy on our precinct.
Reporting to the Executive Branch Manager Design and Place Strategy, the Senior Project Manager will work autonomously, following with the Authority's Renewal Program.
Eligibility/Other requirements:
Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge
Demonstrated ability to independently manage and deliver planning, strategic guidance documents, urban design, landscape architecture, construction and/or place making projects, inclusive of quality, timeframes, risk, contracts (inclusive of cost) and people.
Relevant project experience in creative city making with ability to influence urban design, landscape design and public realm outcomes.
Relevant strategic project experience in delivering urban and landscape projects underpinned by triple bottom line metrics of social, economic and sustainability outcomes.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of land development, including, and understanding the importance and application of quality urban and landscape design principles to deliver great outcomes.
A sound knowledge and understanding of the application of risk management and procurement practices.
Behavioural Capabilities
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and shape project direction, solve problems, work productively and flexibly as an individual and within teams.
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, to exercise initiative, to pay attention to detail and to prioritise work within tight timeframes in a busy office environment.
Well-developed communication (including written, graphic, and oral skills), negotiation and representation skills.
Understanding of and commitment to the implementation of Respect, Equity and Diversity (RED), participative work practices and Work Health and Safety (WHS).
Qualifications
Professional qualifications in urban design and landscape architecture, or architecture are highly desirable, or commensurate demonstrated experience in urban renewal projects.
Minimum of 8 years' experience in a directly relevant field, preferably in urban renewal and public realm related projects.
Knowledge and experience of architectural, engineering or landscape related software such as Adobe Suite, CAD, and GIS.
Notes: This is a temporary position available from 25 June 2024 to 28 May 2026.An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
