This pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading.
Initial contract until 30/04/2025 with possible extension paying approx. $1,115/day. Brisbane CBD location with flexibility to WFH 2 days per week. Our client, a well-known Queensland Government Department, is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager for their Infrastructure Services Division for an initial contract until 30/04/2025.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be accountable for leading and managing the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Modernisation and Transformation (VMT) Training Reference Data and Systems (TRS) project and implementing the new solution.
The TRS project is responsible for the replacement of VARS and TRDB applications & QTIS website. The project will also ingest key external reference data, establish and populate an agreed common data model, making the information available to all new VMT systems. The project is considered high priority and profile given the importance of the data and need to provide a foundational information layer for the new systems. Overall, the focus will be on integrating new solutions with existing technology, building technical foundations, and reducing organisational risk associated with legacy systems.
The successful candidate will have exceptional leadership and project management skills. This individual should demonstrate the ability to effectively manage project scope and stakeholder expectations, ensuring timely delivery within predefined scope, time, and budget constraints. Moreover, they are looking for someone who can cultivate a high-performance, collaborative culture throughout the project lifecycle.

All VMT Projects work together with stakeholders to leverage the latest Microsoft technologies (e.g. Power Platform, Dynamics 365, Dataverse, and Data Lakes) and establish a modern VET technology platform.
As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for: Managing and leading the full project lifecycle for the TRS Project, ensuring smooth interoperability between systems and alignment with program objectives in accordance with industry best practice frameworks (Prince2 or PMBoK). Facilitating clear and effective communication channels between project team members, stakeholders, and senior management. This includes providing regular updates on project progress, addressing stakeholder concerns, and managing expectations to ensure alignment with project objectives and outcomes. Developing and maintaining essential artefacts, including but not limited to, project plans, schedules, status reports, and project Risk, Issue, Action, Decision, and Dependency logs. Coordinating cross-functional teams, including IT, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors, to ensure successful project delivery. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment, encouraging continuous development and excellence among team members. Monitoring and reporting on project progress and quality assurance activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion by efficiently managing project budgets, financials, and resources. Proactively identifying, assessing, and addressing project risks and challenges, implementing mitigation strategies to minimise the impact of potential risks on project deliverables, timelines, and budget. Providing strategic thinking, innovation, and negotiating to support the delivery of high-quality solution outcomes. Leveraging, adjusting, and identifying connections to other work to enhance overall project effectiveness. Promoting and applying appropriate project management techniques, methodologies, and tools, including benefits realization and risk and issue management, to ensure quality project outcomes. Leveraging innovative and data-driven solutions in line with program architecture. Contributing to initiatives that positively impact stakeholders within the VET domain. Key skills and experience required: Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in managing and delivering business-critical IT solutions within high-volume, high-pressure environments, ideally with a legacy system replacement focus. Must include end-to-end management of the full project lifecycle including hypercare and transition to BAU. Project Management Certification: Possession of a recognized project management certification such as PRINCE2 or PMP with a minimum of 7 years' industry experience as a Senior Project Manager. A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or Business Administration is highly desirable. Knowledge of Project Management Frameworks: Proficiency in applying appropriate project management frameworks, with the ability to promote and provide guidance on the use of relevant techniques, methodologies, and tools, preferably aligned with PRINCE2 or PMBoK. Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of IT systems, technologies, and methodologies relevant to the project, including iterative software development approach, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data management.
