About the Opportunity
The Senior Product Safety Advisor (SPSA) plays a critical role in implementing the Product Safety Management Plan, under the guidance of the Assurance & Governance Business and Investigation Manager. The SPSA is responsible for conducting thorough investigations into product safety incidents and issues as they arise. Additionally, the SPSA will represent the Product Safety Team in the WHSE Committee and SICT, and will provide leadership and support to drive continuous improvement in product safety across the team and business. The SPSA will also perform systematic proactive reviews of the application of policies, procedures, and evidence related to product safety within the ASC Submarine Maintenance and Submarine Building Business Units, including their associated projects. There are two full-time positions available, based from Osborne, SA and Henderson, WA.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and chair Product Safety Incident Reviews (PSIR)
Utilise ICAM techniques in conducting a Product Safety Investigation
Communicate outcomes effectively with relevant stakeholders across all levels of the business
Ensure the upkeep of Product Safety reports, databases and Business Improvement Requests
Gain intimate knowledge of all Product Safety related processes and procedures
Be able to contribute in undertaking Assurance and Governance activities when required
Compile trend analysis data for prioritisation of Assurance and Governance schedules
Work collaboratively within team environment and with external stakeholders, both National and International
Ability to maintain factual focus when challenged by conflicting external views
About you
Relevant Graduate Diploma or Trade in Engineering, Quality or Safety fields.
Proven experience in the leading/mentoring of teams in a complex engineering environment.
Familiar with or trained ICAM Investigator or similar qualifications.
Previous experience relating to the conduct of audit and/or technical investigations.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of technical systems of work, quality assurance standards, and change management processes.
The ability to effectively communicate factual and objective outputs both verbally and in writing across a broad spectrum of stakeholders at multiple levels.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals. Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
