Our client is Vecco Group. Vecco is developing a world class Vanadium resource project near Julia Creek in QLD as well as downstream Vanadium Battery Electrolyte Manufacturing facilities in Townsville and Texas, USA. The integrated project (mining and manufacturing) has attracted both Prescribed Project and Coordinated Project Status by the Queensland Government.
The company has funding in place and is backed by multinational corporate investors Idemitsu and Coeclerici Group. Vecco is already taking orders for Vanadium Flow Battery Electrolyte which is being produced from their 2ML per annum demonstration facility in Townsville. One of their customers is Sumitomo Electric who produces grid scale vanadium flow batteries.
A PFS has been completed demonstrating a technically viable & financially attractive project with 28 years life of mine. The project and business model are robust and relatively de-risked and the company is therefore ready to embark on the next stage of growth.
About the role:
Vecco is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer / Metallurgist to be part of the owner's team to manage and execute processing related components of the Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) for both the mining project and downstream electrolyte manufacturing with the role evolving to support project development.
Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, the role will be required to work with Vecco service providers including laboratories, equipment vendors, engineering consultants to progress processing aspect of the study. Vecco operates an electrolyte manufacturing facility in Townsville, and the role may include technical assistance to this part of the business.
Core responsibilities may include: Managing aspects of the metallurgical test programme through laboratory providers to deliver test results and inputs into the VCMP and electrolyte BFS in a timely manner.Managing Vecco's core shed in Brisbane and supporting drill core sample management for testing programs, including progressing geo-metallurgical understanding of the project's orebody.Providing metallurgical analysis and working with the engineering consultant and equipment vendors to ensure key data is used in process design.Providing additional support to technology projects, supporting the CTO and taking part in trials at the electrolyte facility in Townsville.Required skills and qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (chemical, metallurgical or process).5+ years of experience as a process engineer in a relevant industrial environment.Proficient in process analysis, process modelling, statistical analysis and simulation software (desired).Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex process issues.Working knowledge of process safety, risk assessment and compliance with regulatory standards.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Why apply:
